About the range
Saturn aluminium pergolas
The Saturn is a freestanding aluminium pergola with a louvred roof you can open and close. Tilt the louvres open for sun, shut them when it rains, or set them anywhere in between. The roof beams are taller than usual, so when the louvres are open they sit out of sight and you see a clean frame rather than a row of slats.
Sun or shade, your call
The louvres are double-layered and turn through more than 90 degrees, so you can follow the sun round in the afternoon or angle them to keep the glare off the table. Closed, the roof is watertight. When a shower blows in, close the roof and stay where you are. In practice it means more evenings outside, and a garden you use from spring well into autumn.
Every louvre mechanism is tested at the factory before it’s shipped.
Where the rain goes
You don’t have to open the roof to let rain off. Each louvre has a U-shaped channel along its edge. Water runs into those channels, into the frame, down inside the hollow legs and out at the feet. The foot covers have drainage holes, so you can choose which way it runs off. Nothing drips over the edges. If you open the louvres straight after a downpour, the channels catch what’s left, so it doesn’t land on whoever’s sitting underneath.
Add to it as you go
The Saturn frame takes add-ons, so you can start with the pergola and build it up later:
